The 3DS is Now Officially Retired

The 3DS had a lifespan of almost a decade, but alas all things must come to an end. The 3DS housed an impressive amount of games, and had unique features like StreetPass. And of course its 3D feature, although it tended to give most people headaches and drained the battery. However, while many lacked in backwards compatibility, the 3DS was capable of playing DS games as well, which made it even more valuable to gamers (like me) who still had their previous gen games they enjoyed replaying.

As someone who grew up on handheld consoles, I'll be a little sad to finally see support for this go. But with the massive success of the Nintendo Switch, it only makes sense for this to be the next step. However, I definitely won't be letting mine go just yet as there are still tons of titles I've never even touched. But hopefully this system's retirement means that 3DS games will finally lose their "Nintendo tax" and drop prices so that many great titles can finally be experienced!

Until next time~

Pokemon Shuffle Tutorial Stages Review

As of February 18, 2015, Pokemon Shuffle is out on the eShop market and free to play! o(*゚▽゚*)o When the game was first announced, I thought that it was going to be another Pokemon Trozei / Pokemon Battle Trozei (or Pokemon Link: Battle for our friends in Europe & Australia). However, it has its differences, such as not having a trozei chance and implementing some Mega Evolutions. And so far, I'm digging this game. ouob

Persona Q released on the 25th, and yesterday evening I was finally able to pick it up YAY! I'm a Persona geek, so I just had to get it. (Started this back in June, but my lazy ass is now finishing it, oops)

With E3 happening about a month or so ago, many more games have suddenly shoved their way into the bucketlist of games to try~

If you're just on my blog for otome, feel free to skip over this post: It's just a kicks and giggles post of (mainly) E3 fangirling and whatnot. (*゚▽゚*)

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies Review Part II (Final) + Bad Ends

Hi! Well, back when I started my blog (My first review & post if you don't count the "Welcome" actually XD), I did this massive part I review of Dual Destinies. Many months of laziness later, I decided to just condense it all into one with much less detail. XD Oh and because I'm cheap, this doesn't cover the DLC *sigh*

Bravely Default - Demo Review & Tips Part 1

THIS SHIT FINALLY CAME ONTO THE ESHOP ;ADKJF;LKJF Seriously, I've really wanted to play this game. And apparently in Japan it's known as "Bravely Default: Flying Fairy" but I guess we lose the subtitle cause Nintendo of America is cool like that. Technically, the NA/PAL release is "Bravely Default: For the Sequel" since it's the updated version that Japan got in December. But anyway.

Bravely Default is a RPG game created by Square Enix and is a spiritual successor to Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light. The demo debuted January 2 and standard and limited editions will be up for purchase sometime in February. (And holy crap, this thing already has a sequel planned, called "Bravely Second". Then again, this has been out in Japan since 2012.)

If you wish to view the websites, English:
Japan: BDFF

Is it sad that everytime I win a battle I think of this theme instead? XD

Ooh, apparently in the Full Version, you can select languages between English, French, German, Spanish, Italian and Japanese since it'll be a worldwide release for other countries. Kinda like how Pokemon X/Y did it too :3

Also, there are Demo Bonuses that you can obtain to make your life easier in the full version. Talking to the guy on the right before exiting town can tell you which "packs" you've obtained:

HarmoKnight - Demo Review

Alright, time for another demo review.

HarmoKnight is a rhythm mostly side-scrolling platformer 3DS game (yeah yeah another rhythm game; deal with it) created by GameFreak, who hasn't created a non-Pokemon game since 2005 lol. In this game you play as a boy named Tempo (oh dear gawd, here come the music puns) who trains alongside with his trusty partner Tappy, both of whom live in the wonderful world of Melodia.

Goodness gracious, already I can't take this game seriously. This is so cheesy I can't... at least Mega Man's music puns weren't as cheesy. XD *ahem* Anyway

So the game kinda gives off this childish appearance, but it has catchy tunes and adorable gameplay. Playing this on 3D is pretty fun too.

Tappy comes up to you and says that he spoke to Master Woodwin and says that if Tempo keeps up the good work, he'll be a great warrior of Melodia. 8D

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth Has a New PV :3

PERSONA~~ (*≧▽≦)

Alright, so there's a new PV for the upcoming Persona game for 3DS. For those of you that don't know, Persona Q is one of the 4 Persona games that Atlus is planning to release (1 on PS3 and the other 2 on PS Vita). Persona Q is a bit of a RPG dungeon crawler that has the returning cast of those from Persona 3 and 4 in chibified form. And for all the chibi haters, rest assured: Persona isn't about to turn into some fluffy game. It still has plenty of dark and gloomy moments. 。^‿^。

I am ridiculously psyched  for this Persona game. I mean, just... Persona is a really sexy series and you're really missing out if you haven't played it. XD

AeternoBlade – Demo Review

Alright. So I’m floating around the eShop and I see that there’s a new demo out, called AeternoBlade. I have absolutely no clue what it’s about (alright, it's about avenging your village, changing your destiny and things of the like), but it kinda looked RPG-ish, and I’m an RPG freak (though the eShop labels it as “action”). I’m a demo whore so every time there’s a new demo that sparks my interest, I download it. …I’d say I have about 3/4s of the eShop’s demos XD

Overview
So immediately you get into the world where you play a some chick. Clearly these is some dreary desolate, and the background music like you’re in some wilderness helps emphasis that. You get a bit of handholding with the tutorials, such as “Use the circle pad or d-pad to move.” You also have an orb system that accounts for UP, MP, HP and whatnot.

3DS Update: Miiverse & Nintendo Network ID (What on earth...?)

Alright. So I haven't updated my 3DS since about mm... October? (When Ace Attorney came out lol) So now that I've done the update, there are 2 new features that I've never heard of: Miiverse and Nintendo Network ID.
.
.
.
Well, I don't own a WiiU, so in my defense that's a perfectly good reason to not know about these.

So thankfully upon opening, Nintendo has given me the run-down of how Miiverse works for dumb minds like myself:
Miiverse is a gaming community that connects people from all over the world using Mii characters. Use Miiverse to share your gaming experiences and meet people from around the world. ... Miiverse is a user-driven gaming community where you can interact with people all over the world. For example, you can communicate by writing and drawing posts in the various game communities. If you are unable to connect to the Internet, you can launch Miiverse in offline mode to write posts and save them for later.

Sonic Lost World - Demo Review

Alright. Time to see what Sega has thrown my way this time.

So. SLW is about Eggman plotting to rule the world (as per usual....) by conjuring up the power of the Deadly Six (oh noes!). However, they turn on Eggman and now Sonic must team up with the enemy, Eggman, to take em down in Lost Hex (lol, whut). New abilities of Sonic include his rainbow color powers. On the side, I guess you're also rescuing these little critter thingies that Eggman stole.

Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure Demo Review

Are you a fan of rhythm games? Love tapping out some tunes with your stylus? Than perhaps Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure is a game for you to try. With a free demo on the Nintendo eShop, what's to lose? So. Sega bring to you Raphael (this red-head you see here in the tux), a Parisian thief who goes by the name of "Phantom R" (Phantom Rhythm maybe?) who is notorious for stealing valuable works of art (through his groovy moves!) and returning them days later (lol whut). Follow his adventures to unlock the mysteries of his past and discover the truth~
A red-head that becomes a Phantom and steals famous art works to find the truth? This is so DN Angel guys! 8D *ahem* I mean, what? (late 90s/early 00s anime anyone?)
Alright. So the demo provides you with three different...shall I say... stages: R01, R02 and R04. Despite the small number, it's still pretty enjoyable. Unlike most music games, your grade is determined not by your overall performance, but by how full your "health bar" is at the end. I like to try and beat my high score every time haha. If you're a casual or beginner gamer who just wants something cute and fun to immerse yourself in, then this game's great. And if you so wish, you can hold little competitions with family members or friends, seeing who's the best hehe.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies Review and Thoughts Part I

That's right, folks! It's time for a review (and gushing) of the new Ace Attorney game, PW:AA Dual Destinies, also known as Ace Attorney 5 (Gyakuten Saiban 5) in Japan. After many many years of the previous installment, Capcom has finally come with a new Phoenix Wright game! I stalked the Nintendo eShop and as soon as this came out on Oct. 24 at 9:00am PST, I bought this little turd. 8D  Cracpcom has slightly redeemed itself in my eyes. Slightly. Not enough to cause a ripple of acceptance though. If only they'd release Gyakuten Kenji 2, then maybe I'd like them a tad more.

For those of you that don't know, Ace Attorney is a visual novel/adventure (try being an idiot like me who has the Kanji knowledge of an ant and attempting to read this or any visual novel in Japanese, guhhh turtore) where you play as a lawyer and get to collect evidence, cross-examine witnesses, etc. etc. as you try to find out the mysteries behind various murder cases. It may be a niche game but trust me, it's a really interesting series, especially with all the plot-twists in each case. At the beginning it seems pretty obvious that this
