The 3DS had a lifespan of almost a decade, but alas all things must come to an end. The 3DS housed an impressive amount of games, and had unique features like StreetPass. And of course its 3D feature, although it tended to give most people headaches and drained the battery. However, while many lacked in backwards compatibility, the 3DS was capable of playing DS games as well, which made it even more valuable to gamers (like me) who still had their previous gen games they enjoyed replaying.
As someone who grew up on handheld consoles, I'll be a little sad to finally see support for this go. But with the massive success of the Nintendo Switch, it only makes sense for this to be the next step. However, I definitely won't be letting mine go just yet as there are still tons of titles I've never even touched. But hopefully this system's retirement means that 3DS games will finally lose their "Nintendo tax" and drop prices so that many great titles can finally be experienced!
Until next time~
