So back in 2018 in preparation of Ryan's sequel coming out, NTT Solmare decided to make Ryan's route free to read. The only thing you need to provide are the talent points and the items. So obviously my cheap ass couldn't resist.
Ryan is a popular bartender at a prestigious bar called Le Ciel. He once wanted to be a film director and create his own scripts, but he gave up that dream to support his younger brother's - Cody's - dream as an actor...
Let me tell you, I'm glad this route was free because I would not have read it otherwise lmao. ヾ(＾∇＾)

So right off the bat both Gray brothers are hot and cold. Ryan tells Julia to stay away from Cody, Cody throws shade at his brother (like saying there's nothing proud about being a bartender), Cody having the audacity to demand where Julia has been and accuse her of going out at night when actually she had to work overnight in the lab and decided to return with her coworker Timo, who also lives at the apartments... (Also, none of your business!) Lots of bullshit, plus more I don't feel like typing!

One of Julia's earliest interactions with Ryan is when he takes her out to... see a movie I think? (I forgot.) Afterward in his car he pulls her forward and wraps his arm around, asking if he can kiss Julia... And then says pretty good acting right? He got inspired and acted out a scene from a script he wrote. ಠ_ಠ Julia gets mad at him for experimenting on her, and rightly so. Cody calls Ryan but Ryan says don't interrupt because he's on a date with Julia, and Ryan then tells her that he wants undivided attention whenever he's on a date with someone... Even though Ryan didn't tell her at all he planned for the movie hang to be a date. Excuse me??? 😡
One day when Julia comes to visit the Grays' flat, it seems that Cody is the only one there. He pushes her down on the couch, saying how devoted he is to her or whatever. She tells him to stop, especially since she can't tell if he's practicing his acting, but he doesn't stop and she's not strong enough to push him off. The younger Gray only stops when Ryan shows up to shove Cody away. 🙄🙄
At night, Ryan suddenly visits Julia's apartment at night and carries her to the courtyard, giving her flowers and a romantic(?) movie viewing night. Also: tragic backstory time! Ryan talks about the one time he entered a film competition, he got some pretty harsh criticism... Which was on point but young Ryan didn't want to believe it, and thus believed he had no talent instead. After his parents died, it was easier he quit school and his dream in order to support Cody.
Apparently Julia and Ryan have also met each other before... and no, not at the airport in the prologue. When she was younger and visiting a wildlife conservation, there was a young boy she played with and an older one that recorded them. Surprise! That was Cody and Ryan. And suddenly Julia remember that yes it was them! Lmao. Ryan even get jealous and pouty that baby Julia and Cody hug each other at one point in the recording. 🙄 And then Ryan and Julia make out because why not.
After gradual encouragement from Julia, Ryan decides to enter film competition and pursue his dream. Cody says it's too bad Ryan and Julia are getting along, but that it was just a joke although he's a little jealous of Ryan. But he's definitely rooting for his brother hooking up with you. Okay. On the plus side, Cody is glad that Julia is in Ryan's life because he's motivated to work on being a director again.
Supreme end: Ryan invites Julia to Le Ciel. The bar is closed to public it's just the two of them tonight. Ryan set this up because it's a special occasion: Ryan's script was accepted for the competition. Julia shares her good news as well, that the research was successful and the leopards will recover, meaning the public will be able to see them again soon. Ryan makes her a special drink and even though Julia hasn't had a sip yet she's already "feeling drunk on Ryan's allure." They profess their love, smooch, and Ryan gives Julia a key to a hotel. They go to hotel, make out on the bed. ...Even though the route ends I'm sure you know where this is going lol. 😉FINAL THOUGHTS

Yes chapters 1-4 will usually have 2 characters "fighting" over you since that's before it splits off into the route, but this shit continued throughout Ryan's whole route. Know what else would have been great too? Communication.
It's kinda bad when the whole time I was playing I kind of wanted to go to Timo's route. 🤣
There were so, SO many times I was frustrated with Ryan, Cody, or both. They'd do something yikes and then be all "Just kidding! haha" Like, no it's not okay???? Maybe I'm bias because there are a handful of women in my life that have had to deal with not so great relationships/men. Yes this is just a video game, but the parallels made it unable for me to fully immerse myself in the story. Playing off manipulation, etc. as a joke is never alright. 🙄 Yeah he does some sweet stuff but... that doesn't really excuse or make me forget about everything else lol.
Translation wise, there were lots of errors. And yes, Ryan was literally the first route and it's super old but I don't know... brush up on it sometime? It's been years. Especially if you're going to promote it again. Just.. so many typos or awkward phrasings.
Also for those interested, Julia and her bestie Joy don't pass the Bechdel test lol. Because totally the only thing women talk about with each other are boys boys boys (*-_-)
If this was the first route people played when the game first launched... I'm so sorry for them lmao.
Do yourself a favor and play anyone but him. (￣ー￣)ｂ
