"Hey, have you heard about the Seven Wonders of Nanagiri High?" It's rumored that if you visit the science room at midnight, you might see blue onibi (will-o-wisp) floating around. Be careful not to wake the wrathful Okitsune-sama, lest he either possess you or burn you to a crisp. But what happens when you're dared to enter the classroom and end up encountering the fabled fox youkai...?
I just want to point out that I'm shocked Yuroma has 6 seasons!? I can't believe it got that popular during the time I took a break from otome.
But anyway, now that Rejet has uploaded season 1 to Youtube, of course I'm going to watch! After all, I am a simple girl - I see Sakurai and I immediately give a listen. 😆 Seeing a light haired nekomimi (...kitsunemimi? lol) character voiced by Sakurai immediately gave me Mejojo flashbacks... thankfully this CD was nothing like that lmao. But maybe that was an intentional marketing visual www
Track 1
Long ago, this area used to be a field with wild animals, but they perished when it was cleared to build the school. One such animal was a fox, who now is bound to the school's science classroom as a youkai, possessing those unfortunate enough to cross his path and test his patience. The rumor of the science classroom is a popular one around campus, and those wishing to test their bravery dare each other to visit the cursed room at midnight to see if the nine-tailed fox will appear.
Zakuro is counting the number of students trying to enter the classroom but chicken out. Suddenly you enter alone and he appears in front of you, annoyed at all the noise you and your friends are making. He taunts and circles you, asking if you're really that surprised to see him when you're the one who entered at night. He possesses your body and whispers threats in your ear, like how he'll haunt you forever and devour you slowly. It doesn't matter to him that you were dared to enter since you're bothering him all the same. After scaring you a little while longer, he finally lets you go on the condition that you don't tell anyone you saw him... Or else he'll burn you to a crisp.
Track 2
You're having trouble with the cafeteria's ticket vending machine, so a rando student appears and kicks it and gets it to work lolol. He then joins the line next to you, telling the lunch lady he wants the kitsune udon (lmao).. which is apparently what you're having as well! Zakuro says that school food isn't the best, but at least he gets to eat the aburaage (deep-fried tofu).. but it's not like it's any of your business or anything! Zakuro asks about the rumor of the science room youkai in an attempt to trick you about revealing his existence, but you deny seeing anything. You offer to give him your share of aburaage- which he's conflicted about lol. He's hyped about receiving more tofu, but it's not like he wants your share... but if it's a thank you for his help then sure he'll totally eat it, whatever. (gh;lsdkfj what an aburaage tsun) He also lets it slip that fresh tofu is the best since offerings are usually dry, oops. He's surprised that you decided to sit with him since others tend to avoid him.
Nighttime comes, and Zakuro is chilling in the blissfully quiet science room. He's reminiscing about lunchtime, surprised that you actually kept your promise. Suddenly it gets really noisy and he hides right before a bunch of students enter, way more than usual. He realizes that the only way this would've happened is if you told everyone what you saw and oooh is he pissed. For now he must hide, but he definitely feels betrayed. He knew he shouldn't have trusted you, but this is the repayment he gets. (Also, that ominous orchestra track when he think you told people is so good oooof)
Later the two of you are talking in an empty room and he accuses you of telling his secret and he's going to make you pay. He clones himself and whispers threats in your ear to try and intimidate you. Hearing this scene with headphones by the way is lethal. F u c k. If you're here for some good ol Do-S vibes, then this is your scene. Eventually he realizes that you genuinely didn't tell anyone, so now the two of you are going to work together to weed out the traitor...
Track 3
So you're out hanging out with your "friends" (the dare group), but Zakuro is chilling inside your body since he can only visit areas outside the school when he's possessing someone pfff.
Turns out everyone's going to Animate lmao. (Someday I'll visit too haha) You try out the lotto to try to win a character pillow, but you only end up winning a clear folder. Zakuro doesn't understand what the excitement over a lottery drawing is when you have powers, so he transforms it into a winning ticket, which one of your friends promptly snatches to go exchange it. Of course you don't want to win by cheating, so fiiiine he'll get rid of it. And with a snap of his fingers, the "winning" ticket engulfs into flames... And sets off the fire alarm and sprinklers as people scream. 😂😂 Zakuro has no clue what's going on but he does apologize for getting you drenched and promises not to cheat anymore. (He's so clueless lmaoo I love him.) Oh and he gets jealous when your "friends" try to be super buddy buddy with you www.
The next day he finds you while you're on cleaning duty, ditched by your partner who was supposed to help you. R00d. Anyway, he sought you out because he was worried you might've gotten a cold from getting soaked yesterday, d'aww. He uses his abilities to help with the cleaning to apologize for yesterday. And yeah he does it under the guise of not wanting to owe anyone anything but actually that was a kinda nice offering heh.
While he's helping, Zakuro talks more about himself and the curse. Apparently he's been bound to the science room for over a hundred years, and that he'll be free if he discovers the Seventh Mystery/Wonder. But even if he did become free, he doesn't have a home to return to. Anyway he's paid off his debt to you, so off he goes.
Track 4

You sneak into the science classroom late at night to drop off some homemade aburaage. He says it looks good and warns her about coming here along late at night by herself: There are other youkai in this school too y'know. If she's not careful they might just eat you up. Wait no it's not like he's worried or anything!! Stop being happy about that!! 😂
Zakuro tries to emotionally put up his walls again, saying that you're only with him because he's something fascinating and you'll grow tired of him eventually. (;*△*;) Baby noooo. He's not ever going to be betrayed again... And yet he hesitates when he sees the sad expression you're wearing. Cursing his inability to resist you, he asks if you're free tomorrow. It's not like he wanted to get close to you but there's a place he wants to take you.
That place turns out to be a festival! It's a date awww. (>v<*) But of course, he still has to be chilling in your body since he can't go outside the school haha. You buy a candied apple - which to him looks poisonous since it's so bright - but since you want him to try it he leads you to a secluded place. He can't eat while possessing you but he can move around outside in a smaller form, so he transforms...
HE'S A CUTE TINY FOX GH;SDKLFJ. And his voice is higher too wwww baby!!! Chibi Kitsune!! He says to stop calling him cute... and stop laughing!! hglsdkj. He hesitantly tries the food... and is surprised how delicious it is! And hey stop looking so proud at his reaction, the candied apple is decent. Wait no that doesn't mean he doesn't want it, bring it back!! (gh;akdsfjskld I love him 💕)
Time passes and they finish the treat, and now it's time for the fireworks to start! He asks that women like stuff like this right? Well doesn't matter because it's not like her wanted to bring her to this, he just wanted to watch the fireworks from somewhere closer because it's too far from school. (Uh-huh suuuuure) Awkwardly he asks if you're enjoying it, and since you are you both should watch together until the end. www
Zakuro talks about how even though it's been years, the festival vibe hasn't really changed all that much. He talks about how he used to come often, causing mischief and playing pranks on people. However one day he got careless and was caught by humans, but one was kind and convinced him to stop his mischievous ways. Instead, Zakuro started to help keep the town safe from hostile youkai. But one day a plague spread throughout the lands, and people began to blame him and try to kill him, even those that had once been nice to him... Naturally, he became wary of humans afterwards. Years passed and his powers diminished, and he'll vanish forever once they're fully gone. The construction of the school and being bound to it stopped his powers from further reducing, but now of course he can't leave. You're happy he told you, even if he thinks you're weird lol. He notices you're a little cold and since he can't keep you warm when being possessed, he decides to stay as a fox a little longer and help stave off the night chill that way www.
Track 5
Zakuro asks why do you continue to come every night to feed him... But it's not like you're a bother or anything gsdlkf. Tonight's dish is Inari Sushi, because of course it's another tofu meal lmaoo. He asks if your parents aren't worried, but apparently you lied you were going to a friend's house haha. Of course he wonders what's so interesting about coming here all the time, but at least he won't be bored... You just laugh at him in response www. he gets flustered and leans in close to remind you that other youkai or people could take advantage of someone as open as you... But then you get flustered and now he's flustered! gh;sdkf
He decides to go for a walk to cool off, and he rambles to himself that you always make him feel off-kilter. He tries to convince himself that you're only interested because he's a youkai and will get bored eventually, because there's no way a youkai and a human could be happy together... right?
He comes back to find the classroom... oddly empty. But then he sees the food spilled all over the floor and knows something bad happened. He starts running out and yelling out to try and find you, but realizes you might no longer be at the school...
Track 6
Somehow Zakuro finds you and hops back into your body and tells you to stay quiet. He calls you an idiot for getting yourself kidnapped but then blames himself too since he did leave you alone lol. Apparently your "friends" who dared you in the beginning were the ones who brought you to this sketchy alley, and Zakuro mutters that they're garbage for doing this. Even though he's not physically there, he helps calm you down by holding your hand and saying you have no be afraid with Okitsune-sama at your side. You're glad he's there, but he comments how he's never met someone who was glad to be possessed www. Zakuro realizes that this group were the ones spreading rumors about the youkai, not you, and even worst were doing it just to attract women to the school late at night. He apologizes for doubting you and can't forgive them, but he's also powerless when outside of the school grounds.
He tells you to try and pull away (I'm assuming from some restraint) but it's not working... so he transforms back into a tiny fox! He tries to help free you, but the more he does so the more his power diminishes. However Zakuro doesn't want anything to happen to you. Despite all the times he treated you roughly, you still kept your promise so of course he needs to do all he can!
...But then suddenly he understands. You didn't do this because of some obligation, and nor did he. He began to trust you despite thinking he'd never be able to again, but the thought of being betrayed once more was always stuck in the back of his mind... He doesn't want to disappear because he still wants to protect you. 😭
And then you tell him you want to be with him too. He reminds you he's a youkai but if you're serious... then kiss him! One chu and a sparkle sfx later, his powers return thanks to your Disney-esque true love's kiss! He stalks off to the group of guys and threatens that they better run unless they want to be burned to crisps, and you can hear the crackle of flames as he shows off his onibi for a little bit of dramatic flavor. Naturally, they all run off screaming lmao.
Zakuro is concerned about you and hugs you.. which he can actually do now that his powers are back and his body is corporeal again! He had his doubts, but apparently the final mystery of Nanagiri is that the binding spell will be broken if a youkai and human fall in love. ❤️ You end up giving him an interesting look because.. if the spell is broken does that mean... The tsun in him returns as he awkwardly says that yes he likes you too - don't make him say it, it's embarrassing!! wwww Zakuro then talks about how if he never met you, then he would've died believing humans couldn't be trusted again hnng baby. He says that you're special to him and that he'll always protect and possess you oho. This Okitsune-sama will be with you forever, so you should be grateful you baka onna... and then he gives you a little chu. (ノ▽〃)
Track 7
As for the science classroom? Even if you happen to see his blue onibi floating around, there's no reason to be afraid: The Okitsune-sama has already found someone to possess for the rest of his life.

OOF Sakurai has that vocal range, even in just the first track. That scene in the first track where he hops back and forth and whispers threats in your ear was 👀👀. And once he opened up to the MC the shift was amazing. Anyway I'm in love with this tsun fox ghlsdkfj. This cd was so good and I understand the hype for it now~ 💖
My summary word count also got a little out of hand help. I uhh.. definitely included way more details than I probably should for a summary, but his cd was so fun I couldn't help it!
Zakuro is the perfect tsundere: Enough tsun with a touch of Do-S to keep you on your toes, but lots of dere dere to make up for it www. Prime examples: Tofu offerings and fireworks scene. I also love how adorably clueless he is?? And in general he has such a sweet side to him?? Him being in his tiny fox spirit form is adorable too! For the angsty bits: Every time he talked about his backstory and the betrayal of humans he trusted I just wanted to give him a hug hng.
Not counting the free talk track, this drama was just under 1 hour... even with 7 tracks of content. So short! ━Σ(ﾟДﾟ|||)━ But that's okay because there's 5 more seasons of Yuroma lol. Even so, I wish there was more in this volume because I love him!!
As always, Rejet has great taste in music for their cds. A lot of the bgm included more traditional instruments and melodies, which was fitting for a series about youkai. Most of them serve to help set the mood, but the upbeat one is the final track is definitely a bop.
As a tsundere lover (and Sakurai simp), I'm so glad I decided to start with Zakuro's cd. If you love dummy head mics, this drama definitely does not disappoint. I definitely recommend this CD.
P.S. Happy 5th anniversary to Yuroma in 2020!
