Hakuouki: Kyoto Winds
About a couple weeks ago, Kyoto Winds was announced to be localized for Vita. Kyoto Winds I believe is Hakuouki Shinkai: Kaze no Shou in Japan, which is part 1 of the Shinkai remakes? 「(゚ペ) (The second game being Hana no Shou)
Along with the original 6, new routes have been added. The new guys in the Shinkai games are Iba Hachirou (CV: Miyano Mamoru), Souma Kazue (CV: Kaji Yuki), and Sakamoto Ryouma (CV: Ono Daisuke). New routes for returning characters are Shinpachi, Sannan (eek), and Yamazaki.
The official English site can be found here and is predicted to release Spring 2017.
Personally, I'm not very excited for this game. (*._.) In general, Hakuouki is IF's most milked franchis. Also, even though there's new routes for both old and new characters, it's still a retelling of the first game... And I really don't think the West needs yet another first game port (The other versions being psp, 3ds, and ps3+fandisc). I love the first game, but I would've preferred a different series entirely.
Nightshade (Hyakka Hyakurou)
Why it's called Nightshade I have absolutely no idea.
Unlike Hakuouki, Hyakka/Nightshade will be on Steam rather than Vita. Both the official English site and Steam page for the game are live. According to this staff comment, the price of Hyakka is $34 (way cheaper than psv ~$50-60) and there'll be a launch sale of 20%, lowering the cost to ~$28.
The English announcement was just yesterday, and I'm really excited for this game!! It's on my bucketlist of games to try, and having it localized saves me time, energy, and import fees. ( ´ ▽ ` )
Misc.
- Period Cube's release date has officially upgraded from "2017" to "Spring 2017." The official site is also now open! 1 site down, 3 to go~
- According to E2's Facebook, apparently the Taisho Alice localization is still a thing, with hopes to release by the end of the year?? Apparently all 4 games will also be translated into Spanish. I'm still a little wary of the localization though, considering all the drama that happened earlier this year.
- I have no clue if anything is going on with Kenka Bancho Otome. Even though it won the Twitter poll, I don't think Spike Chunsoft has gone anywhere with it???
- MangaGamer's Fashioning Little Miss Lonesome (R18) is currently at 42% in both the translation and editing processes
- A while back, Aksys tried getting rights to localizing Hakuouki SSL. There haven't been any updates on that, but perhaps Kyoto Winds can be a gateway to SSL's localization if you're hoping for that game.
Until next time! ∠( ᐛ 」∠)_
